Environmental Pollution
Environmental pollution should be a cause of concern for everyone living on this planet. The contamination of our air and water is leading to a host of problems, both immediate and for the future. Public discourse and well thought out action will be necessary to solving these problems.
Environmental pollution of the air has been proven to be detrimental to the health of the planet. The systematic releasing of harmful chemicals and particulates into the air is causing ozone depletion and is the leading cause of climate change. While some may try and claim that this climate change is just part of the natural cycle of the planet, the truth is that humans are the primary reason that there are many times the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere today than there have ever been in the past.
Environmental pollution of the water is caused by surface runoff, spills and littering. Toxins that find their way into the ground water can contaminate the soil, leading to failed or damaged crops. Pesticides often find their way into our rivers and streams, and eventually lakes and oceans, which causes additional harm to the environment.
