Environmental Impact
The environmental impact that humans have had on this planet has increased exponentially over the last 100 years. The industrial revolution of the late 19th through the 20th century has produced vast amounts of pollutants that have begun to change the climate patterns of the planet. Combine this with the destruction of ecosystems around the world that have occurred due to industry and human intervention and the results are alarming.
Automobiles have had a significant environmental impact around the world. From the mining that must take place to make the steel to the pollutants released from the tailpipe as a result of burning gasoline, there is no doubt that automobiles have had an adverse effect on the environment. Thankfully, automobile manufacturers are beginning to develop technology that can help eliminate much of this pollution.
Industrial waste from factories has also had an adverse environmental impact. Much of this pollution seeps into the ground water, and eventually into streams, lakes and rivers. This in turn kills off fish and other marine life, which interrupts the food web for a host of other life forms.
